Session: Sustainable Finance: Considerations Across the Beef Supply Chain
Jeff Kanger is an accomplished banking professional and community leader, currently serving as the President of First State Bank Nebraska, a position he has held since 2021. He holds a law degree from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln College of Law and a Bachelor’s degree from Northwest Missouri State University, where he also ran Track and Field.
Jeff is also deeply committed to environmental issues in Nebraska. He was appointed by Governor Pete Ricketts to the Nebraska Environmental Trust, a nonprofit dedicated to conserving and enhancing the state’s natural environment. In this capacity, he oversees the allocation of grants for projects that focus on wildlife conservation, land restoration, and other sustainable environmental initiatives.
In addition to his professional and environmental work, Jeff co-founded Brother's Keeper, a nonprofit organization supporting persecuted Christians in the Gaza Strip. In 2016, he traveled to the region to provide humanitarian aid and establish scholarships and employment opportunities for local Christians facing extreme adversity.
Jeff’s diverse leadership experiences—spanning banking, environmental advocacy, and humanitarian efforts—highlight his passion for making a meaningful difference in his community and beyond, as well as his commitment to excellence in all aspects of his life.
When not in the office or travelling he can be found with his hunting dogs on his cattle ranch west of Omaha
