Logan grew up on a registered horned Hereford ranch in central Texas, sparking his passion for improving beef production sustainability by developing practical solutions for producers. He began his bachelor’s degree at Sam Houston State University and completed it at Texas Tech University in 2015. He earned a Master’s in beef sustainability at Oklahoma State University in 2017 and a PhD in ruminant nutrition at Michigan State University in 2021. Before joining Kansas State University in August 2022, he was a post-doctoral fellow at Colorado State University. His research focuses on measuring greenhouse gas emissions in grazing systems, the impact of grazing management on ecosystem function, and nutrient utilization across production systems. Logan’s wife, Rachel, is a Senior Scientist in Ingredient Solutions R&D at MGP Ingredients in Atchison, KS.
