Jacob Gilley is the Senior Technical Livestock and Grazing Specialist, Eastern U.S. for American Farmland Trust, where he promotes sustainable grazing and livestock production to enhance soil and water quality, wildlife habitat, production efficiencies, and profitability. He serves on several agricultural boards, including the Virginia Forage and Grassland Council Board and the Virginia Cattlemen’s Policy and Industry Advocacy Board. Along with his wife Jennifer and their four children, Jacob operates JG Livestock in Madison, Virginia. Their beef is sold directly to consumers under the Heaven’s Hollow Farm brand. Jacob holds a B.S. in Animal and Poultry Sciences and an M.S. in Career and Technical Education, both from Virginia Tech. He is certified in Nutrient Management, Professional Animal Scientist (beef and dairy), and Beef Quality Assurance.
